With 25 years in the capital markets, Ed Cesare has accumulated experience in asset-based lending and mezzanine, equity and venture capital investing. Over 14 years guiding investments in biomedical technology, he has established a strong track record of returns.
Before founding PCM in 2002, Ed was a partner at Medici Medical Group, a venture capital firm focused on the life sciences sector. Previously, he was Senior Vice President at Edge Financial Group. He also served as Vice President at Signal Capital Corporation and Credit Officer at Marine Midland Bank (Hong Kong Shanghai Bank).
When evaluating companies seeking to market technology and consumer products in today’s health and wellness environment, Ed’s experience is a distinct advantage. He brings a keen sense of the balance between risk and opportunity and a disciplined approach to evaluating intellectual property and regulatory risk.
Efficient deployment of invested capital is a key discipline in venture capital. Ed’s background as a board member and line manager in early stage businesses will provide portfolio companies essential intellectual capital in support of strategic development and fiscal management. His knowledge of accounting, manufacturing and other business fundamentals help maximize Fund opportunities and minimize risk.
Ed believes that adaptive exit strategies can help maximize returns. His flexible approach toward realization, including experience with IPOs, strategic sales, joint ventures and out-licensing, prepares the Fund to seize opportunities as they arise.
As capital markets have embraced biomedical innovation, Ed has seen marginal cost efficiencies in the health care system become more difficult to achieve. This trend, when viewed in context with increasing consumer engagement in health and wellness, suggests new opportunities where life sciences meet life choices.
